TICAL Tank Inventory Calculator

   A desktop calculating tool to aid in operating and maintaining a fuel tank farm.
   Anytime a tank-strapping table is involved in a calculation, it becomes a tedious, manual, error prone operation. Let TICAL eliminate that.

PGL Petroleum Gauging Logger

A new portable Compliance Assistance Tool

   A PDA platform calculating, calibrating, and logging program to assist in fuel tank gauging and ATG calibration.

   This portable platform device meets the formal API standards to perform a calibration of Automatic Tank Gauges. All three calibration procedures - Preliminary, Final, and Verification - are supported in PGL. This device/program allows one to perform an innage or an outage gauge on a tank.
   In order to have the most accurate manual gauging possible, it is necessary to apply some "corrections" to the tape measurements that are used in performing the gauge, whether innage or outage. PGL provides the necessary four corrections per NIST calibration parameters for each calibrated manual gauging tape.
PGLRPetroleum Gauging Logger Reader

   A desktop program to read the data that was synched to a desktop from a PDA device with a PGL program.

   PGLR allows you to view all the data that is stored on the PDA device for the PGL program.

   There are two windows: one for the Gauging (Innage and Outage) and one for the Calibration (all three stages).
   The data on each screen may be printed out for a hard copy record.
PIEPrecision Instrumentation Equipment

   PIE is a SCADA related system that utilizes hardware for real-time data gathering of fuel storage conditions in large underground (UST’s) or aboveground (AST's) fuel tanks. Software is used for the local and remote display and analysis of this information.

   PIE collects its data real-time and stores it to a real-time RAM database for current, live-data and to a hard disk for an historical database.
   This system works in a server/client mode over a secure, isolated LAN that transmits bidirectionally from the server to the remote clients.
COMET Very Large Bulk Tank Leak Detection

   Originally designed to provide on-line, 24/7 monitoring for leak detection of the Pearl Harbor Red Hill Tanks that hold 12,000,000 gallons of fuel each.
   A non-invasive system using the existing high resolution level and temperature ATG system.
   Proof-of-Concept already demonstrated. Off-line monitoring capability performed on several tanks.
   Capable of detecting leaks at the 0.2 to 0.5 gallons per hour rate on a monthly basis.
   COMET may be adapted to other AST's or UST's that are of the 4,000,000 gallon size or larger.
TIMTank Integrity Management

   A comprehensive management program structured to meet the demands of U.S. Navy fuel depots for leak detection of bulk storage tanks.
   Advanced technology and well meaning personnel are not sufficient to prevent environmental/personnel hazards.
   A properly engineered holistic program with clearly defined, well-documented, consistently applied and periodically reviewed processes is required!
   TIM : a 21st century pollution abatement release detection program.
PTPPrecision Temperature Profiler

   A temperature assembly to provide high accuracy, with high precision, measurement of the temperature stratification in a liquid such as fuel oil in a tank over very long spans (up to 250-feet).

   It is a portable instrumentation tool that can be moved from one tank to another to provide a look at the fuel temperature stratification over a 250-foot height within a tank.
   It monitors and logs over time with a very high resolution and accuracy the temperature at discrete points spaced at 10-foot intervals.
   Snap-shot profiles of the current temperature at any given time over the period of the test are available, as well as a dynamic moving display of the changes with time.

PTP has three versions:
  1. PTP-CA - Calibration, 1 probe for spot calibration, any spot over a 250-foot span
  2. PTP-ZA - 10-foot Zone analysis, 11 spot probes spaced at 1-foot intervals, any zone over a 25-foot' span
  3. PTP-FA- Full tank, 24 spot probes spaced at 10-foot intervals, covers a 250-foot span or 5-foot intervals over a 125-foot span.

   Asteroid Scientific, an electronic engineering firm specializing in data acquisition systems, has provided systems and technical support to government agencies and the private sector, including bonding companies, in the field of security surveillance and Supervisory Data Acquisition and Control (SCADA) systems for over 40 years.
   In addition to the design and fabrication of hardware/software for new systems, we also support clients that require investigative tasks for troubleshooting/maintenance or confirmation of performance or that require system documentation.
   A registered professional control system engineer is on staff that will certify any work deemed necessary.

   Over the years Asteroid Scientific has designed and installed many systems that were of course interconnected with the ubiquitous copper wire - from buried cable, to overhead pole stringing, to intra-plant connections via conduit. Today, fiber optics has become the medium of choice, where appropriate, and we have traced-out many fiber optic systems that were poorly documented and were experiencing reliability issues. Besides documenting such systems, troubleshooting, repairing/replacing defective components, and performing loss budget analysis are an integral part of the provided technical support that Asteroid Scientific has provided.
   Internationally certified fiber optic technical personnel are provided to oversee our fiber optic projects.
